Iintroducing the BiTemporal Data discusion forum, and listing topics that we will discuss later on. 3-14-2011 List of Discussion Topics.

A discussion of what bitemporal data is, and why it is important. 3-15-2011 What is bitemporal data?

This continues the previous discussion. 3-17-2011 What is bitemporal data (Part 2)?

This discussion introduces the important concept of temporal envelopes. The two temporal dimensions of bitemporal data are usually said to be orthogonal to one another. But in an important sense, they are not. Instead, all temporal relationships exist within one temporal envelope (valid time or, in our terminology, effective time), and that envelope, and its contents, exist within the second envelope (transaction time or, in our terminology, assertion time). 3-20-2011 Two temporal envelopes.

A discussion of entity integrity and what it becomes in a temporal context. 3-20-2011 Entity Integrity and Temporal Entity Integrity.

An example of bitemporal envelopes. 3-23-2011 Bitemporal envelopes: an Example.

A discussion of multisets (tables which are not relations) and temporal multisets. 4-11-2011 Multisets and Temporal Multisets.

Beginning a discussion of referential integrity and temporal referential integrity. 4-18-2011 Temporal Referential Integrity.

Continuing the discussion of referential integrity and temporal referential integrity. 4-24-2011 Temporal Referential Integrity (Part 2).
